The creators and collectors of the non-fungible token (NFT) will soon be able to display their tokens on Instagram. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed in a post that the company is testing NFTs on its platform with a similar feature coming to Facebook soon.
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said in a video that a small group of US users will be able to display their digital NFTs assets on the feed tab, on Stories, and in messages. NFT details are displayed similarly to tagging on profiles and products, called “digital collectibles”. When you click on the tag, it will display details such as the name of the creator and owner.
Mosseri said the test was too small, to begin with so Instagram could learn from the community. He stressed that support for NFTs on Instagram could help introduce the technology to a wider audience. Instagram is not the first platform to do so, as in January Twitter introduced NFTs on its platform.
