From April 2022, foreign tourists, including those from ASEAN countries, will pay 300 baht (approximately US $ 10) per person to visit Thailand. The Thai government has said the money will be used to develop tourist attractions as well as provide accident insurance to tourists entering Thailand.
Although the above amount is not much, Thai associations and tour companies feel that this is not the time to take such money. Thailand needs to compete with other countries in the region to attract more tourists after being affected more than two years ago.
Thai government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said the money would be added to airfare upon arrival in Thailand. He added that if a foreign tourist had an accident while visiting Thailand, he could claim up to 500,000 baht in compensation.
